yo friends and fellow hbowarthots, if anyone has any pacific or bob screenplay pdfs, I would super super appreciate if u could send them to me
i think one of the most important things you learn about making connections with others is that a significant portion of the time people just do not know theyre doing what theyre doing
sometimes someone is acting selfish because they just didnt think you had any interest in what theyre hogging. sometimes you dont get invited to the movies because your friend could have sworn that you said no. sometimes you think someone is mad at you because theyre bad at hiding how little sleep they got. we are all like little worlds that briefly crash into one another from time to time and we just arent physically capable of seeing the whole picture at once in those moments. and learning that really changed everything!
Everytime I see posts like this I get filled with such profound sadness
Cause you know who has the same brainrot as you? The same unhinged feelings as you after you’ve read the fic? The person who always wants to scream about the fic with you?
THE PERSON WHO WROTE IT
I never used to leave comments but since I got into the habit of commenting on everything i enjoy it’s been incredible. Especially when the author gets back to me about it and we get to have a discussion of what other ideas they had. One writer replied to my comment with a 5 paragraph essay detailing the Floorplan of the building the characters lived in and it was incredible
Anyways this is all to say that if you find a fic that just makes you want to scream from the rooftops, leave a comment saying that to the author and maybe they will join you and you can scream incoherently together
Please talk to me 😂 I too make diagrams of floor plans.
and what about it.
When you could be watching She-Ra or something actively and openly LGBTQ+ friendly.
oh shut the fuck up
#can’t believe people in 1956 were watching johnny guitar instead of she-ra#🙄🙄smh
im fucking dying what the hell kind of noxious fart gas do u have to have instead of brains to fucking comment something like that 😂
im just i dont even know where to begin, between the foolishness of forgetting that queer people predate the she-ra reboot and the blatant disinterest in hearing the experiences of queer people in different contexts and the fact that maybe just maybe we dont exclusively want to watch Certified Gay media and that queer reading is a way of actively engaging in the art u consume and validating urself and etc etc… im dying, what a mook 😂
It must be so strange for kids now to wrap their head around how little representation there was back in the day. And what we did get was generally bad - if you were any kind of queer character, you were either murdered or a murderer who deserved to die. No in between. It really did a number on generations of queer people, seeing ourselves presented that way.
If you want to talk animated queer characters, up into the Disney Renaissance and beyond, the only queer-coded characters you ever saw were the villains. Hell, in the Beauty and the Beast reboot, they gave us “a confirmed gay character” who was apparently LeFou, Gaston’s side-kick. I say apparently, because have you watched the film?
I can only think of one mainstream film I saw from the 80s that had any positive queer representation while studying film at uni and it was tangled up in a savage critique of racism, culturalism and Thatcher’s Britain.
Things are better now, yes, but let’s not forget where they started. Let’s not forget how far we’ve come and how far we still need to go.
ellen is garbage, but when she came out on her TV show (april 30th, 1997. i was fifteen.) it was national news. for months.
a year and a half later, matthew shepard was beaten, tortured and left to die, because he was gay. his death was also national news - but more importantly, his murder is what led to gay bashing being legally declared a hate crime. i was sixteen years old and had been with my then-girlfriend for almost a year. assaulting, raping, and killing us for being queer wouldn’t have been prosecuted as a hate crime.
i could go on for so, so long but this is already pushing me close to tears.
“you could be watching she-ra” my god. you know, i did watch she-ra when i was a kid.
i didn’t see myself in any of them.
I am 43 years old. The first time I remember seeing a lesbian couple kiss on television that wasn’t porn or immediately leading into deaths meant to demonstrate that lesbianism would immediately destroy your lives (within the next 90 minutes!) was The Body, a Buffy episode which aired on February 27, 2001.
I was 24. My daughter was an infant. I’d never seen anything like it before. Here I was! There! On screen. I identified with dorky, awkward, very gay Tara so much.
And then you know what happened just over a year after we finally saw Willow and Tara kiss, having been denied for seasons because the network wouldn’t let them?
Whedon fucking killed Tara off in the most ridiculous, pointless way possible, right after Tara and Willow, who had broken up, got back together.
My “good, meaningful, actually changed my fucking life” representation still followed the horrible tropes. That’s how hungry we were. That’s how desperate we were. We still pointed back to Willow & Tara as ‘this is the best we’ve gotten,’ even though she literally got shot through the heart, somehow, randomly, with a stray bullet the morning after she and her girlfriend have make-up sex and get back together.
Fuck.
There’s actually a few, solid essays on why such coding is so important and how hard things were, and still are to this day for queer people desiring any,any level of representation in media
Heres one on Queer coding and why it’s important

Here’s one on Disney’s ‘cold war’ on queer artists working for them, along with queer subtext
and here’s two on queer film theory and how it relates to horror movies, from how they use depictions of queer people to signify evil, and also touches on why a lot of queer people’s favorite genre is horror

The Animation Guild Announces Unionization Efforts At Warner Bros. And Cartoon Network
“Warner Bros. Animation and Cartoon Network production workers are attempting to unionize with The Animation Guild (TAG).
A petition was filed with the National Labor Relations Board today requesting a union election. The petition includes 66 staffers at Warner Bros. Animation and 22 at Cartoon Network, including roles like production manager, digital production assistant, IT technician, production coordinator, production assistant, design production coordinator, assistant production manager and senior assistant production manager.
They are involved in such Warner Bros. projects as Batman: The Caped Crusader, Harley Quinn and Teen Titans Go! and Cartoon Network’s Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake, We Baby Bears and Craig of the Creek.
The workers also requested voluntary recognition from management at the Warner Bros. Discovery subsidiaries.
A tweet was issued confirming the move, which was officially announced earlier on a joint Zoom call.
“Although many might not think it, production is a specialized skill; we might not be artists or writers, but what we bring to the table goes beyond traditional creativity and gets content on the air,” Warner Bros. Animation production manager Hannah Ferenc said in a statement about the organization effort. “Having lived through the existing state of the animation industry for the past seven years, I want to make sure that not only our current workers, but all those who choose to join us in the future, can feel secure in following their passion by earning livable wages and being treated with the dignity and respect they deserve.”
The Animation Guild has already established bargaining units on shows like Rick and Morty, Solar Opposites, The Simpsons, Family Guy and American Dad! It also is active at studios like Titmouse New York and L.A. and ShadowMachine. Establishment at Walt Disney Animation Studios is currently in progress.”
Imagine being the only person alive who can say this
buzz aldrin and neil armstrong liked to do a thing where they’d tell unfunny jokes at parties about being on the moon and when people were confused they’d go “guess you had to have been there”
[ID: tweet from Linn LeBlanc reads: Where were you 49 years [ago] today when @/TheRealBuzz and Neil Armstrong made those historic first steps onto the Moon. Attached is a color photo of an astronaut on the moon. Buzz Aldrin quote tweets it and replies: I was on the Moon! #Apollo11 /]
Since human diets include lots of iron I imagine Vulcan diets have a “healthy” dose of copper. So it would only be about a month long trip before Jim would get copper poisoning because he’s too polite to turn down any Vulcan dish
We spend so much time arguing about corsets when we could be spreading the gospel of “women’s clothes DID used to have pockets and they were F*CKING HUGE and we should bring them back”
BRING
THEM
BACK.
#If you pocket can’t be used to steal an entire chicken what’s the point of it?
That’s the spirit
I made one of these a few years ago and based it off a very similar pattern! Except I changed the flowers to traditional Hungarian Matyó embroidery because I’m forever on my bullshit.
Ooh are we sharing? I embroidered a pocket for my wedding…and it could fit two whole bottles of wine in it!!! Bring these bad boys back. They’re excellent and stylish.
This is legitimately my job, I string pearls 40 hours a week. I cannot help but overanalyze every piece of media that includes a pearl necklace. I have gone on long rants about Martha Wayne.
Okay, so necklaces are either knotted or straight strung. Straight strung doesn’t have knots separating the pearls, so there is more tension on the pearls and it’s bad for them over time, but it is cheaper and looks fine in short term. So yeah, most rich people knot their pearl necklaces. There is one exception: sometimes we have a super picky Karen-type that demands their necklace with really fucking expensive pearls be straight strung because they like the look better. Properly knotted necklaces have nearly invisible knots so this is just batshit demands, btw.
So, that leaves two options: either you chock this up to comics folks not knowing anything about pearl necklaces or, the funnier option being that Martha Wayne is just one of those people that makes the most unhinged demands to feel in control and powerful.
I’m just really pumped I found a post I could actually professionally weigh in on

You know what, fuck you. *Romanticizes the monstrous in a way that is deeply compelling to people who feel they’ve been ostracized from mainstream society in one way or another, and also at least a little bit horny*
I deeply respect Bill Watterson’s hardline stance against the merchandizing of Calvin and Hobbes, but there’s something very fucked but funny that because of his attempt to keep the integrity of his work that his characters are now most commonly encountered as bootleg Calvin peeing on things
Bart Simpson bootlegs and Calvin bootlegs are in some way opposites of one another.
The Bart Simpson frenzy was very early in the show’s run and in retrospect happened mostly before what people see as the series peak in quality. The Simpsons has now run a good 30 years after peak bart and still making billions of dollars on merch
Calvin peeing decal now have a longer history and life span then the Calvin and Hobbes comics themselves, with no need to compete with any official licensed work.
Bartmania is like glimpsing into a Cambrian explosion of bootleg merch, Calvin peeing decal is like glimpsing at cockroaches unchanged by time ready to adapt to all climates.
